Peter Obi Proposes Guinness World Records Recognition for President Tinubu’s ‘Hardship Impact’ on Nigerians

In a recent interview with Vanguard, Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), has suggested that President Bola Tinubu should be recognized by the Guinness World Records for “causing Nigerians the most hardship.” Obi’s statement comes in response to Tinubu’s recent claim that he deserves a place in the prestigious record book for his performance in the country since assuming office.

Obi, the former Governor of Anambra State, expressed concern over the suffering of Nigerians, attributing it to the reforms implemented by the Tinubu administration. He stated, “If the idea is to put his name in the Guinness Book of Records for causing Nigerians the most hardship – untold hardship, of course, he is spot on, and I will totally agree with him because his reforms are not achieving what they are meant to achieve.”

The former governor has already moved past the 2023 general elections, emphasizing that he is now focused on governance and real issues. Obi highlighted the lessons learned from the elections, noting the commitment of Nigerians to good governance and the perceived lack of interest in good governance among the elite class.

Commenting on Tinubu’s performance since assuming office on May 29, 2023, Obi deferred the judgment to the Nigerian populace. He urged the public to assess the situation, stating, “Ask the average Nigerian how he is faring today. The truth is that we have many more Nigerians thrown into poverty, millions of Nigerians don’t know where the next meal will come from.”

Obi concluded by emphasizing the critical nature of the current situation and encouraged a broader conversation among Nigerians on the challenges they face under the current administration.
