In his New Year statewide address, the newly sworn-in Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has pledged to immortalize his late predecessor, Rotimi Akeredolu, who recently passed away. Aiyedatiwa, who assumed office following Akeredolu’s demise, also committed to continuing and completing all projects initiated by the late governor throughout the state.
During the address, Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed gratitude for navigating through the challenges of the past year, acknowledging 2023 as one of the most testing years in the state’s history. He highlighted the unfortunate loss of former Governor Akeredolu and promised a befitting state burial and the immortalization of his name.
Aiyedatiwa affirmed the commitment to complete the developmental projects initiated by Akeredolu, recognizing his indelible contributions to the state and Nigeria. He urged all political contenders and stakeholders to engage in the electoral process responsibly, adhering to established rules and avoiding violence.
“As we are all aware, this is also the year for our governorship election. Expectedly, political activities will gain prominence as we march towards the election. However, let me implore all political parties, aspirants, and their followers to eschew violent conduct that can threaten the peace and tranquility of our state and ensure that they follow strictly the guidelines issued by the electoral umpire,” Governor Aiyedatiwa stated.
