Results of Week 8, Nigeria’s NPFL 2023/2024 season


Lobi Stars FC of Makurdi, over the weekend maintained their lead in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), with a 1-0 victory over Sporting Lagos. The only goal of the match was scored by Chinedu Sunday in the 29th minute. 

Remo Stars of Ikenne beat Gombe United 4-0,in an encounter which saw striker Sikiru Alimi scoring a brace to take his goal tally to seven this season. 

Enugu Rangers settled for a 2-2 draw against host team Sunshine FC of Akure, Rangers opened scoring in the fourth minute of the pulsating encounter. Another draw was recorded in Ilorin between Kwara United and visiting 3SC of Ibadan, as the match ended 1-1. 

In Jos,Plateau United defeated Abia Warriors 3-1, while Katsina United secured a lone goal victory over Rivers United. 

Kano Pillars, four-time league winners, ran away with a 1-0 victory over Enyimba Int of Aba. The match between Bendel Insurance and Niger Tornadoes of Minna ended goal-less. 

On Saturday,Doma United FC of Gombe  was at home against  Akwa United and the game ended one goal in favour of the host team.  

The game between Heartland FC of Owerri  and Bayelsa United FC of Yenagoa will be played on Wednesday as part of the Week 8 fixture. 

Meanwhile, at the end of Week 8 matches, the highest goal scoring battle among players in the NPFL is increasingly getting hotter every weekend. The current position are Alimi Sikiru of Remo Stars,7 goals, Robert Mizo, Bayelsa United 6, Michael Oluasi, Sunshine Stars 5, Jonathan Alukwu ,Sporting Lagos 4, Samuel Tiza, Lobi Stars 4, Lukman Bello, Katsina United 3, Junior Lokosa, Sporting Lagos 3, Malomo Taofeeq, Shooting Stars 3, Alex Oyowah, Rivers United 3, Godwin Obaje, Enugu Rangers 3.
