INEC Begins Distribution of Sensitive Materials for Imo Gubernatorial Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has begun the distribution of sensitive materials to all 27 local government areas in Imo State for the upcoming gubernatorial election on Saturday.

The distribution of the materials, including Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machines, ballot papers, and result sheets, took place at the Central Bank of Nigeria branch in Owerri, the state capital.

Speaking to journalists during the distribution, INEC Southeast National Commissioner Kenneth Ukeagu assured that the elections would proceed as planned in all the LGAs, as comprehensive security measures have been put in place by security agencies.

Ukeagu stated, “We are fully prepared for the election and are currently distributing sensitive materials to all LGAs in the state, as the election is set to take place in every LGA. We have received assurances from security agencies for the provision of ample security before, during, and after the election.”

Ukeagu expressed confidence that the election process will be smooth and without any major issues, thanks to INEC’s meticulous planning. He also noted that INEC staff members have received comprehensive training and have been instructed to carry out their duties with professionalism.

Ukeagu urged eligible voters in Imo State to turn out in large numbers on Saturday to exercise their democratic right by choosing their preferred governor.

INEC’s readiness for the Imo gubernatorial election is a positive sign. It is important for eligible voters to exercise their right to vote and choose their preferred leader.
