The federal government has mobilized over 10,000 Agro Rangers across 19 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in a bid to bolster food security nationwide.
This initiative, coordinated through the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), aims to protect farmlands and shield farmers from increasing attacks, mediate conflicts between farmers and herders, and prevent the deliberate destruction of agricultural lands.
Dada Olusegun, Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Social Media, shared the news on Sunday via his X platform account. He emphasized that this deployment is a crucial step in addressing the insecurity that has severely impacted food production in Nigeria.
Olusegun highlighted that the collaboration between the NSCDC and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security is a key element in resolving the longstanding challenges farmers face due to insecurity.
Additionally, he revealed that the government expects to receive over 5,000 advanced farming tools in the near future, as part of its broader strategy to cultivate over 10 million hectares of land under President Tinubu’s administration.
