Former Edo State Governor, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, has criticized Omoyele Sowore, one of the organizers of the #EndBadGovernance protest, calling him a “defeated politician.”
During an interview on Arise TV, Oshiomhole expressed doubts about Sowore’s ability to represent Nigerians, suggesting that his recent electoral defeat disqualifies him from speaking for the populace.
Oshiomhole, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), emphasized that he does not recognize the individuals leading the ongoing nationwide protest, which has now reached its eighth day. He argued that there is no need for the protest, asserting that President Bola Tinubu is actively addressing the country’s economic challenges.
“I listen to all those names you mentioned and the others, I don’t know them. Which Nigerian does not know Wole Soyinka? Who didn’t know Gani Fawehinmi of blessed memory? Who doesn’t know Femi Falana?” Oshiomhole remarked.
“I know Sowore as a defeated presidential candidate. And when you’re defeated in an election, you wait for the man who won the election.”
He continued, “Sowore cannot be seen as speaking for the people because he is still nursing the pain of his defeat. So, that’s not the guy to speak for people in Kano, for those people who throw bombs in Maiduguri or those people who hijack cars.”
Oshiomhole’s comments reflect his belief that the organizers of the protest lack the credibility to lead such a movement and his confidence in the current administration’s efforts to improve Nigeria’s economic situation.
