President Bola Tinubu is currently leading the National Security Council meeting at the State House in Abuja. The meeting, held in the President’s office, is attended by all heads of security and law enforcement agencies.
The security meeting comes amidst nationwide protests against hunger and bad governance. Despite President Tinubu’s nationwide broadcast on Sunday, where he appealed to aggrieved Nigerians to end the protests, the organizers have rejected the plea.
Present at the meeting are Vice President Kashim Shettima, Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila, and National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu. Key security and law enforcement officials attending include Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa, the three service chiefs, and Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun.
Also participating are Director-General of the Department of State Service Yusuf Bichi, Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency Ahmed Rufai, Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Customs Service Adewale Adeniyi, and Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Immigration Service Kemi Nanna Nandap.
