President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Niger State to officiate the inauguration of a mechanized agricultural project alongside other significant developments. The visit marks a milestone in the state’s efforts to bolster its agricultural sector and enhance infrastructure.
Tinubu’s itinerary includes the inauguration of the renamed Minna International Airport, which now bears his name, the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport, Minna. This renaming was executed by the state governor, Umar Bago, during a ceremony held on Friday.
The airport, initially inaugurated by former military Head of State Ibrahim Babangida on June 20, 1990, has undergone extensive remodeling under Bago’s administration. Notably, the airport has been equipped with a fully furnished Domestic Terminal, signaling a significant upgrade from its previous state.
Additionally, President Tinubu is set to inaugurate an agro-processing zone and agricultural equipment, underscoring the state’s commitment to modernizing its agricultural practices. The agro-processing zone project spans approximately 2,000 hectares, with a focus on leveraging advanced agricultural techniques. Of this area, 1,000 hectares will be allocated to drip irrigation and greenhouses, while the remaining 1,000 hectares will be dedicated to the processing of dairy products.
The unveiling of these initiatives represents a concerted effort by Niger State to harness the potential of its agricultural sector and enhance its infrastructure to support economic growth and development. President Tinubu’s presence at the inauguration highlights the importance attached to these projects in driving forward the state’s development agenda.
As the inauguration ceremony unfolds, stakeholders and residents anticipate the positive impact these projects will have on the agricultural landscape and broader economic prospects of Niger State.
