Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has dismissed media reports alleging that he initiated legal proceedings against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Federal Government.
In a press release issued through his Chief Press Secretary, Kazie Uko, on Friday, Otti refuted the claims, labeling them as false information and urging the public to disregard them.
The governor addressed a different aspect of the purported fake report, which suggested that he imposed restrictions on businesses operated by Nigerians from the northern region residing in Abia State. According to the report, these restrictions would only be lifted upon obtaining authorization for the proposed seaport and international airport.
However, Otti categorically denied these allegations in the statement provided to journalists, stating, “There is absolutely no truth in this wickedly contrived fable.” He clarified that while plans for the proposed seaport are still in progress, the Federal Government has included provisions for an airstrip in Abia State in the current budget.
Otti emphasized that the report circulating on social media, particularly on X (formerly Twitter), is a fabrication created by “idle rabble-rousers.” He urged the public to treat it as such and discard it as misinformation.
The governor’s statement seeks to quash the spreading rumors and reaffirm his commitment to the welfare and unity of all residents of Abia State.
