Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has issued a stern warning to individuals engaging in detrimental political activities within the state, cautioning that such actions could drive away potential investors.
The governor emphasized that those involved in such activities were not only harming his government but also jeopardizing the economic prospects of the state.
Governor Fubara delivered the warning during an inspection of the ongoing construction of the 6.5km Woji-Aleto-Alesa-Refinery Link Road project on Tuesday. Speaking through his special assistant media, Boniface Onyedi, he underscored the importance of fostering a positive image of the state to attract investment.
Asserting the need for patriotism among citizens, Governor Fubara stated, “True lovers of the state are patriotic and would not engage in damaging political activities that would chase away investors.” He further highlighted the adverse effects of negative publicity on the state’s economic growth, noting that potential investors might be deterred by unfavorable news.
Addressing the progress of the road construction project, Governor Fubara commended the contractor, Raffoul Nigeria Limited, for their increased pace and significant milestones achieved. He expressed satisfaction with the project’s advancements, stating that the road was on track to be completed within the next three months.
“We were here about two months ago to follow up on the commitment of the construction firm, and we decided to visit again today to see what they have done, and I can say that we are really impressed,” Governor Fubara remarked.
The governor’s remarks come amidst concerns over the impact of political unrest on the state’s development and investment climate. He reiterated the government’s commitment to showcasing the positive aspects of Rivers State and creating an environment conducive to economic growth and investment.
