President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has provided assurance to the Nigerian public, pledging that the nation will soon experience the positive outcomes of the “tough but necessary decisions” made by his administration.
The commitment was conveyed during a meeting on Tuesday at the State House with the with the South-South Monarchs Forum, led by His Royal Majesty, Major-General Felix Mujakperuo (Rtd), the Chairman of the Delta State Council of Traditional Rulers and Vice-Chairman of the South-South Monarchs Forum.
President Tinubu acknowledged the challenges posed by recent economic reforms, particularly the removal of the fuel subsidy, and expressed gratitude for the understanding and support of the monarchs. The meeting served as an opportunity for the President to reiterate his administration’s dedication to addressing critical issues in the South-South geopolitical zone, including developmental concerns and environmental degradation.
During the discussion, President Tinubu highlighted ongoing efforts domestically and internationally to enhance Nigeria’s resilience, especially in responding to climate change and environmental restoration. He emphasized the focus on infrastructure development and the significance of ensuring security and stability in the region.
In a statement released through his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu stated, “We are working to revive the economy from the damage of several years. We seek your support, prayers, and understanding, and I am glad that the Vice-Chairman of the Forum served in an organization where we need intelligence to operate.”
The President acknowledged the traditional institution as a crucial source of intelligence for the country’s holistic development and encouraged continued collaboration. He assured the monarchs that their concerns would be addressed individually and emphasized the importance of their contributions to peace and stability in the country.
In response, His Royal Majesty, Major-General Mujakperuo, appealed to President Tinubu to ensure that developmental efforts in the region result in tangible progress for the people. The South-South Monarchs Forum Vice-Chairman expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s commitment to resolving the region’s challenges.
