In a recent interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today program, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State disclosed additional details about the tragic explosion that shook Ibadan, the state capital, on Tuesday.
Governor Makinde shared that an ongoing investigation into the incident has unveiled the identity of the owners of the company where the explosion occurred. According to him, the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) certificate of a mining company implicated in the Bodija area explosion revealed foreign names as the owners.
The governor emphasized the need for a thorough inquiry to ascertain the circumstances leading to the explosion and to hold those responsible accountable. He underscored the importance of ensuring the safety of residents and preventing future incidents of this nature.
Furthermore, Governor Makinde confirmed that the death toll from the explosion has risen to three, with an additional victim succumbing to injuries at a hospital on the day following the incident.
As the investigation continues, the government is expected to provide more details on the findings and take appropriate actions based on the outcome. The tragedy has prompted renewed discussions on industrial safety measures and the regulation of mining activities in the region.
