In a recent revelation, Solomon Dalung, former Minister of Sports and Youth, has asserted that the government led by Bola Tinubu has fallen under the influence of a power cabal. Dalung made these claims during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Wednesday.
According to the former minister, this alleged cabal comprises individuals appointed by Tinubu within the Presidency, who are working in tandem with external vested interests. Drawing parallels to the previous administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, Dalung contended that a similar cabal had controlled the presidency during that time.
Dalung asserted that such a cabal has the capability to influence the President’s decisions, determine who has access to him, and even influence the handling of important memos. He emphasized the need for President Tinubu to appoint individuals who share his vision and beliefs during critical appointments like Chief of Staff, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, National Security Adviser, and Minister of Justice.
“The cabal is possible and avoidable. The only way to avoid this cabal while making your first critical appointments…you must be able to bring the people whom you know and believe in your vision,” Dalung stated. He further highlighted that foot soldiers of these alleged cabals, often holding positions as Special Assistants (SA) or Personal Assistants (PA), play an active role in leaking memos and monitoring the President’s activities.
Dalung concluded by expressing his belief that even the current government has been taken over by such cabals, emphasizing the urgency of addressing and preventing their influence.
