Diego Armando Maradona Junior, the son of Argentine football legend Diego Maradona, has asserted that his father was deliberately killed. In a recent statement, he claimed to know the identity of the perpetrator and expressed his determination to seek justice for his father’s death.
Speaking to Mediaset, Maradona Junior stated, “There is an open investigation. We – his children – have a lot of faith in Argentine justice. I’m convinced that this should not have ended like this. They killed my father. It is not my job to say who did it, I have my own idea, but I can’t say it. They left him to his fate when something could have been done. I made a promise: until the last day of my life, I’ll fight for justice.”
Diego Maradona passed away in November 2020 due to heart failure and pulmonary edema while recovering from brain surgery at his home in Buenos Aires. Medical personnel involved in his treatment are currently facing a homicide trial in an Argentine court, although Maradona’s autopsy indicated that he died of natural causes. The ongoing investigation has sparked renewed attention to the circumstances surrounding the football icon’s untimely demise.
