The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has called on the state government to provide information regarding the current location and health status of Governor Ademola Adeleke. Expressing concern over the governor’s absence for over a month, the APC suspects that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) administration may be withholding information from the public.
Tajudeen Lawal, the Osun APC Chairman, conveyed the party’s apprehension through a statement, criticizing Governor Adeleke’s media team for what they perceive as a lack of transparency in handling the situation.
Lawal’s statement reads, “The contradicting reasons for the absence of Adeleke from the state for 30 clear days are enough reasons to suspect and conclude that the governor is using falsehood to deceive the people of the state, which is an indication that he has something to hide.”
He emphasized that while anyone could fall sick at any time, it becomes a matter of public interest when a politically-exposed figure like Governor Adeleke is absent from performing his constitutional responsibilities.
“The long and short of our sermon is that Osun State is not an individual enterprise that can be run outside the provisions of the constitution. The governor needs to sit up to his constitutional responsibilities of providing qualitative governance for the people of Osun State, as anything short of this is balderdash,” Lawal added.
Responding to the concerns raised by the APC, the Chairman of the PDP in Osun, Sunday Bisi, stated that Governor Adeleke was on vacation and is expected to return this week. Bisi dismissed claims of health challenges, asserting that the governor used the one-month vacation to relax, reenergize, and recharge for his second year in office.
“While on vacation, the Governor was coordinating his team and launching the implementation of the Multi-billion Infra Plan project. Our Governor is even working while on vacation,” Bisi explained.
He concluded, “As soon as the Governor arrives this week, Osun should be prepared for more delivery of dividends of democracy and good governance. Osun APC is just chasing shadows. The Adeleke governorship is the best for the state.”
