The Israeli army has officially distanced itself from the tragic attack on a Gaza hospital that resulted in the deaths of hundreds of people. The Israeli military asserts that it has evidence pointing to militants as the culprits behind the explosion.
During a press conference held in Tel Aviv, military spokesman Daniel Hagari stated, “The evidence – which we are sharing with you all – confirms that the explosion at the hospital in Gaza was caused by an Islamic Jihad rocket that misfired.”
The incident unfolded on Tuesday evening when an explosion rocked a Gaza hospital complex, claiming the lives of at least 200 individuals. The tragic event triggered protests throughout the Middle East and widespread condemnation.
Hagari emphasized, “There was no IDF (Israeli army) fire by land, sea, or air that hit the hospital. Our radar system tracked missiles fired by terrorists in Gaza at the time of the explosion, and the trajectory analysis of the rockets shows the rockets were fired in close proximity to the hospital.”
In the aftermath of the blast, the Palestinian militant group Hamas, which governs the territory, laid the blame on Israel.
Tensions escalated with both sides engaged in a war of words. Hamas responded to Israel’s latest statements regarding the attack, asserting, “Its outrageous lies do not deceive anyone. Israel is directly responsible for this horrific massacre, which was carried out… with American weapons only the occupation possesses.”
For over a week, Israel has conducted a relentless bombardment of Gaza, which it views as retaliation for the killing of 1,400 people in violent cross-border attacks initiated by Hamas on October 7.
