The Nigerian military has confirmed that it has relocated 101 Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists from prison and moved them to a rehabilitation center for deradicalization and subsequent reintegration into society.
The chief of defense staff, General Lucky Irabor, disclosed this Friday while briefing journalists after the National security council meeting. He said the action is not in line with any agreement reached between the military and terrorists that adopted the train adoptees who were released recently as some papers reported but that it was part of government efforts to deradicalized terrorists that are willing to turn a new leave.
He also explained that some of the terrorists have served out their prison terms in full but were still in prison while many others are awaiting trial.
“They are being taken through the laid down process of deradicalization according to laid down protocol.
“On whether any ransom was paid or a swap agreement was reached between the military and the terrorists who adopted the train adoptees recently released, the CDS, said, “No ransom was paid neither was any Swap Agreement reached”.
