The family of Ayorinde AdeBello, a suspended pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has lodged a formal petition with the Assistant Inspector General of Police against the popular blog Gistlover, accusing it of spreading unverified claims of homosexuality involving AdeBello.
According to the petition, the family contends that the allegations, first posted by Gistlover and claiming AdeBello had engaged in same-sex relationships with young men in exchange for career advancement, have caused significant emotional distress and put his safety at risk.
The viral post prompted RCCG to issue an internal memo on October 28, 2024, suspending AdeBello and another pastor while the church conducts a full investigation.
AdeBello has since publicly refuted the claims, stating, “I have never engaged in sodomy with male teenagers.” He explained that his initial silence was mistakenly perceived as an admission of guilt, ultimately leading him to respond publicly to the accusations.
The family’s petition calls for a fair investigation, emphasizing the lack of credible evidence behind the allegations, which they believe have deeply harmed AdeBello’s reputation both personally and professionally. They have pledged to fully cooperate with authorities and are hopeful that the investigation will clear his name, allowing him to move past what they describe as baseless and damaging allegations.
