Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has expressed strong confidence in the potential success of former President Goodluck Jonathan if he were to run for the presidency again.
Mohammed’s comments came in response to an appeal from a non-governmental organization that recently honored him with the title of “Champion of Peace, Unity, and Development,” urging him to consider a presidential bid in 2027.
While acknowledging the honor, Mohammed made it clear that he would not seek the presidency while Jonathan remains a viable candidate. He stated, “I appreciate the call for me to consider a presidential run, but my focus remains on supporting leaders like Goodluck Jonathan. As long as he is available, I will not put myself forward for leadership. If he decides not to run, then I will reevaluate my position and support him fully if he chooses to stand.”
Mohammed expressed firm belief in Jonathan’s capability to surpass the current administration, attributing this to Jonathan’s past experience and inclusive governance. “Jonathan’s leadership was marked by his deep understanding of the nation’s challenges, including inflation and economic difficulties. During his presidency, he was proactive in addressing critical issues such as the Almajiri system and creating opportunities for unemployed youth. His inclusive approach to leadership and his ability to address pressing issues make him a highly effective leader. We need leaders with his vision, energy, and foresight,” Mohammed concluded.
