Philip Shaibu, the reinstated Deputy Governor of Edo State, has returned to his official duties and is demanding that his staff resume their positions or face disciplinary action.
In a recent video broadcast on his X handle, Shaibu emphasized the Federal High Court’s decision that overturned his impeachment and declared it unlawful.
Upon his return to Edo State, Shaibu reported a failed assassination attempt on his life. Although he narrowly escaped harm, a police officer assigned to the APC governorship candidate for the upcoming September 21 election was injured by the same bullet. Shaibu disclosed that suspects have been detained and are providing information about the attack.
Despite requesting approval from the state governor to reinstate his aides, Shaibu has yet to receive a formal response. He has instructed all staff who have not yet resumed work to do so immediately or face penalties. Shaibu also reiterated that, according to the court ruling, his office was never legally vacant and any financial transactions conducted during his absence are deemed invalid.
