Nigerian crossdresser James Brown has taken to social media to mourn the death of his fellow crossdresser, Abuja Area Mama.
On Thursday, news emerged that Abuja Area Mama, a rising star in the crossdressing community, was found dead in the Banex area of Wuse II, Abuja. Videos circulating online depicted Abuja Area Mama’s lifeless body along the Katampe-Mabushi Expressway.
In a heartfelt Instagram story, James Brown expressed his grief, despite not having met Abuja Area Mama personally. He reflected on the tendency of people to criticize others for their perceived sins while being flawed themselves.
“RIP. I didn’t get to meet him. Sinners mad at sinners because they sin differently,” James Brown wrote.
Brown also used the opportunity to caution his colleagues in the crossdressing community. He suggested that Abuja Area Mama should have scaled back on night activities once gaining popularity.
He admitted his own reluctance to wear cross-dressing outfits in public due to safety concerns, opting instead to limit such attire to Instagram, movies, or private settings at home.
“Crossdressers in Nigeria, stay safe out there. What happened to Area Mama is tragic. She should have reduced her night work now that she was gaining popularity,” Brown advised.
“I don’t have the courage to wear my cross-dressing outfits publicly or stand by the roadside. For me, it’s strictly for Instagram content, movies, and at home. Being a crossdresser, especially doing night work, can be very risky.”
