The Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) and heads of security agencies, following a security meeting at the Defence Headquarters on Tuesday, instructed the Nigerian Immigration Services (NIS) to arrest the sponsors of the #EndBadGovernance protest.
Sources who spoke to Daily Sun revealed, that Omoyele Sowore, a former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), and other alleged sponsors are now on the watchlist. The initially peaceful protests, which took place across the country, turned violent in some states, resulting in the loss of lives and property.
A senior immigration officer, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that Sowore is on the watchlist. “If they attempt to enter the country, we will be notified and they will be apprehended and handed over to the appropriate authorities,” the officer stated.
In response to the protests, the NIS has increased its presence at both land and airport borders to ensure effective monitoring and to prevent foreign intervention. “The service has also intensified surveillance efforts,” the immigration official added.
A source within the NIS further confirmed the inclusion of Sowore on the list, saying, “I can verify that Sowore’s name is among those forwarded to immigration for arrest upon arrival in the country.”
