The Department of State Service (DSS) has arrested a tailor in Kano State for the possession and mass production of Russian flags in Northern Nigeria.
This development was reported by Security Analyst and Counter-Insurgency Expert Zagazola in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday.
The post read, “DSS arrested Tailor for sewing Russian Federation Flags.”
This arrest comes after reports that some #EndBadGovernance protesters in the North have been flying Russian flags, appealing for the Russian government to intervene in their situation. Over the weekend, images and videos of protesters waving Russian flags circulated on social media, including footage of tailors making the flags.
In response to the ongoing protests, President Bola Tinubu addressed the nation on Sunday, August 4, urging protesters not to be manipulated into undermining Nigeria’s democratic progress.
“Let us work together to build a brighter future for ourselves and for generations to come. Let us choose hope over fear, unity over division, and progress over stagnation. The economy is recovering; please, don’t shut out its oxygen. Now that we have been enjoying democratic governance for 25 years, do not let the enemies of democracy use you to promote an unconstitutional agenda that will set us back on our democratic journey. Forward ever, backward never!” Tinubu said.
