The Minister of Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, has denied allegations that he directed telecom companies to interfere with networks in response to the nationwide protests that began on Thursday.
Reports have surfaced that Nigerians using MTN, Airtel, and other networks have experienced unusually slow internet speeds, leading to speculation that the government might be attempting to hinder the protests.
During an appearance on Channels TV, Tijani refuted these claims, stating, “There’s no instruction to tamper with (phone) networks.”
Earlier in the day, Tijani expressed disapproval over the looting of the National Communication Commission (NCC) building in Kano State. He remarked that such actions would undermine the federal government’s efforts to promote youth employment through technology.
