Peter Obi has recounted the tragic events leading to the death of legendary singer Onyeka Onwenu.
Obi explained that Onwenu had just completed a performance at an event where he was also present. Shortly after finishing, she collapsed after taking a sip of water.
Onwenu was rushed to the hospital with several dignitaries, including Obi, in attendance. Despite the medical team’s dedicated efforts, she passed away after more than two hours of intensive treatment.
In a statement, Obi expressed deep sorrow over Onwenu’s death, offering condolences to her family, friends, and the entertainment community. He praised her lasting impact and legacy, saying, “My heart goes out to her children, family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time. May we find the strength to cope with this profound loss.”
