President Joe Biden has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic candidate for the November 2024 presidential election. The endorsement came shortly after Biden announced his decision to step down from the presidential race on Sunday.
Biden emphasized the need for unity within the Democratic Party to defeat Republican nominee Donald Trump. “It is time for the Democrats to come together and defeat Donald Trump,” Biden stated.
Reflecting on his decision to choose Harris as his running mate in 2020, Biden remarked, “Picking Kamala Harris as my Vice President was the best decision I’ve made.” He expressed his full support for her candidacy, saying, “I totally endorse her to become the next President of the United States of America.”
Biden shared his endorsement via his official X account, stating, “My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term. My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best decision I’ve made. Today, I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this.”
