The Lagos State government has acknowledged the enormity of the housing challenges facing the state, emphasizing that it cannot address these issues alone.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu highlighted his administration’s commitment to narrowing the housing gap during the inauguration of the Lagos Building Investment Company (LBIC) and the Rising Lagos Apartment in the Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area on Tuesday.
Governor Sanwo-Olu commended the leadership of LBIC and the Public Private Partner, WGC, for their dedication and innovation in bringing these projects to fruition. “I must commend and congratulate once again the leadership of LBIC and our Public Private Partner, WGC, for their dedication, their innovative minds, and their promotion of excellence in delivering these projects for our citizens,” he stated.
Sanwo-Olu reiterated that the government alone cannot solve the housing challenges in Lagos and stressed the importance of exploring innovative solutions and forming genuine partnerships. “We will keep investing in sustainable development to ensure that, as much as humanly possible, every Lagos resident that deserves access to decent and affordable housing gets it,” he added.
The governor called on the private sector and other stakeholders in real estate to seize the abundant opportunities in Lagos and collaborate with the government. “I want to encourage and urge the private sector and all other stakeholders in real estate to continue to seize the abandoned opportunities that abound in our state and our city and to extend a hand of partnership with the administration,” Sanwo-Olu said.
Sanwo-Olu expressed confidence that through collaboration, the much-needed housing solutions can be provided, turning the vision of a greater Lagos into reality.
