Former Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State has initiated legal action against the State House of Assembly following accusations that his administration misappropriated ₦432 billion, resulting in substantial debt liabilities for the state.
El-Rufai filed a fundamental rights lawsuit at the Federal High Court in Kaduna on Wednesday. The suit, prepared by his lawyer Abdulhakeem Mustapha, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, disputes the conclusions of the Kaduna Assembly Committee, which had indicted the former governor for alleged corruption during his eight-year tenure.
Channels TV reports that El-Rufai’s legal challenge specifically targets the committee’s report, which he argues is baseless and tarnishes his reputation. The case is poised to address the validity of the Assembly’s allegations and the integrity of El-Rufai’s administration.
Further developments are expected as the court proceedings progress.
