President Bola Tinubu has extended his heartfelt condolences to Malawian President Lazarus Chakwera and the people of Malawi after a tragic plane crash claimed the lives of Vice President Saulos Chilima and other officials.
President Chakwera confirmed on Tuesday that the wreckage of the plane carrying Vice President Chilima had been found with no survivors.
Chilima and nine others were on a domestic flight on Monday morning when their aircraft vanished from radar due to bad weather conditions.
In response to the tragic incident, President Tinubu conveyed his sympathies to the families of the deceased. In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu acknowledged the distressing nature of the event.
“President Tinubu commiserates with the families of the deceased over this deeply distressing incident, which happened on a mournful Monday, June 10, 2024,” the statement read.
The President also assured the Malawian nation of Nigeria’s support during this difficult time and offered prayers for the repose of the souls of the departed.
