Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future, citing President Bola Tinubu’s achievements in his first year in office. Wike highlighted the president’s successes in physical infrastructure and human capital development as significant milestones.
Speaking in Abuja on Monday after inspecting the Southern Parkway Road and the Abuja Rail Mass Transit, Wike praised the president’s efforts. The inspection was part of preparations for the commercial inauguration of the projects on May 29.
Wike remarked, “I think Mr. President has done very well in terms of reassuring Nigerians that he is committed to delivering the dividends of democracy. From what we have seen on the ground, there is really hope for Nigerians. So, we are very happy.”
He further noted that in the FCT, President Tinubu has rekindled hope among civil servants by advancing their career progression. Acknowledging that there are still areas needing improvement, Wike emphasized that one year is not sufficient to meet all the expectations of Nigerians fully.
Regarding the upcoming project inaugurations, Wike confirmed, “We are good to go; just putting finishing touches. We have been to the Southern Parkway, and we are 100 percent ready. Here in the Metro Line, we are also ready. We are happy that all our efforts have come to fruition. The residents are very happy, and by the end of the day, the train services will be available for Nigerians. So, for us at FCTA, we are very, very happy.”
