Tragedy struck the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) as Dr. Kamar Abdulkadir, a lecturer in the Department of Physical and Health Education, was gruesomely murdered in his office on Sunday. Reports indicate that unknown assailants ambushed Dr. Abdulkadir, attacking him with a knife and hammer.
According to sources cited by counter-insurgency expert and security analyst Zagazola Makama on his X account, Dr. Abdulkadir was discovered lifeless in a pool of blood, bearing multiple injuries inflicted by his attackers. The assailants reportedly mutilated his hands in an attempt to defend himself, and fatally struck his head and spinal cord with a hammer, leading to his immediate demise.
Following the brutal assault, the perpetrators made off with Dr. Abdulkadir’s vehicle and other valuable possessions, leaving behind a scene of horror and shock.
As of the time of reporting, neither the Borno State Police Command nor the University authorities have released any official statement regarding the tragic incident.
