President Bola Tinubu is set to depart Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, to attend the inauguration of Senegal’s President-elect, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, following an official invitation from the Republic of Senegal.
According to a statement from Tinubu’s spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, the President, who also serves as the Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, will travel to Dakar, Senegal, on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. He will join other regional leaders at the Diamniadio Exhibition Centre to witness the inauguration ceremony.
Accompanying President Tinubu on the trip will be Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, alongside other senior government officials.
The statement concluded by noting that President Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria after the conclusion of the inauguration, signifying a brief diplomatic mission to strengthen ties between Nigeria and Senegal.
