HRM Clement Ikolo, the traditional ruler of Ewu Kingdom in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, has been transported to Abuja by military authorities following his surrender. This development comes after Ikolo was declared wanted by the military in connection with the killing of 17 soldiers in Okuama Community.
Sources familiar with the situation informed Daily Trust that Ikolo surrendered himself to the authorities, and after being handed over to the Army by the police, he underwent extensive questioning before being escorted to the Asaba International Airport. The escorting team was led by the Commanding Officer of the 63 Brigade Nigeria Army in Asaba.
In an attempt to clear his name, the monarch had previously granted an interview where he denied any involvement in inciting violence. He stated that he holds no responsibility for encouraging violence, emphasizing that such actions contradict his personal philosophy as a human being and his faith as a Catholic.
The surrender and subsequent transportation of HRM Clement Ikolo to Abuja underscore the seriousness with which authorities are addressing the issue of the killing of the soldiers in Okuama Community. The investigation into the matter continues as the authorities seek to ascertain the full extent of involvement and responsibility in the tragic incident.
