Ifeanyi Ejiofor, the attorney representing the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has bravely shared his harrowing experience of surviving five assassination attempts due to his defense of Nnamdi Kanu.
In a statement titled “Crucial Clarifications Regarding The Case/Trial Of Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu,” Ejiofor recounted the perilous incidents spanning from 2015 to 2021. He revealed that individuals had been specifically instructed to end his life, resulting in several attempts on his life.
Detailing the relentless pursuit to eliminate him, Ejiofor disclosed, “During this operation, many civilians were murdered in their prime, and over 30 houses were burnt, all in a bid to eliminate me at all costs and by any means for being Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s Attorney and IPOB lead counsel.”
The gravity of the situation escalated in June 2021 when Ejiofor’s ancestral home was invaded. His personal assistant, Samuel Okoro, fell victim to the attack, gruesomely murdered and left in the boot of Ejiofor’s car, which was later set ablaze. Additionally, three of Ejiofor’s associates were abducted during the invasion and remain in detention.
Ejiofor emphasized that these assassination attempts were not fueled by criminal accusations but rather his unwavering defense of Kanu and the IPOB cause. He underscored the ongoing threat to his life, asserting that those behind the attacks persist in their efforts, aligning themselves with cult groups to carry out their sinister agenda.
Despite the dangers he faces, Ejiofor remains resolute in his commitment to defending Kanu and championing the aspirations of the IPOB. His courageous revelation sheds light on the risks endured by individuals advocating for justice and freedom in challenging sociopolitical environments.
