In a harrowing incident that sent shockwaves through Kuriga town of Chikun Local Government Area in Kaduna State, bandits stormed the LEA Primary School, Kuriga (1), unleashing pandemonium as they abducted numerous pupils on Thursday morning, March 7, around 8:20 am.
The precise count of abducted individuals remained elusive at the time of press, with estimates from residents suggesting the number could be as high as 100.
Daily Trust reports that the school had relocated to Kuriga town in recent years due to mounting insecurity concerns, abandoning its former premises situated outside the town’s confines.
Shitu, a resident of the community, recounted the chilling ordeal, confirming the invasion. Most pupils, upon spotting the armed bandits on the school grounds, fled in terror from their classrooms.
Lawal Kuriga, another resident, disclosed that the abducted victims were forcibly marched into the nearby forest by their captors.
As at the time of filing this report, neither the state governor nor the police have issued official statements in response to this distressing development, leaving the community grappling with fear and uncertainty over the fate of the abducted children.
