Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has dismissed as fake and misleading, reports circulating in certain media outlets that he approved the creation of the “Office of the Immediate Past Governor.” The governor, through his Chief Press Secretary, Oladele John Nihi, labeled the news as the handiwork of mischief makers and urged the public to disregard it.
In a statement released to the press, Ododo clarified, “The fake news should be disregarded as the handiwork of psychotic mischief makers, who have been thrown into confusion by the unprecedented achievements of our former Governor, His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, CON, and the realization that the good people of Kogi State sincerely appreciate this.”
The statement went on to highlight that the concocted report aimed to create disaffection and mislead the public, emphasizing that it failed to confuse intelligent Nigerians. The governor expressed gratitude to the media for exercising restraint and independently identifying the report as fake.
While acknowledging the media’s role in detecting the misinformation, the statement urged the general public to engage in fact-checking before spreading unverified news. The governor’s office emphasized the importance of relying on accurate information to prevent the dissemination of false narratives.
