The former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has disassociated himself from campaign posters circulating in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), falsely claiming that he is vying for the position of the national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The campaign posters, prominently displayed on major streets in the FCT and near the APC National Secretariat, conveyed the message, “APC Next Level. Alhaji Yahaya Bello as APC National Chairman. Leading the Change, Building a Stronger APC.”
In a statement personally signed by Bello on Tuesday, he refuted any intention to run for the APC chairmanship seat, dismissing the insinuation as infantile and false. Bello attributed the campaign posters to the tactics of opposition leaders, mischief makers, and fifth columnists aiming to sow confusion within the party’s hierarchy.
Bello clarified that the APC is not currently in the process of conducting congresses or a convention, making it baseless for anyone to circulate posters for party offices. He urged the public to disregard the misleading impression, emphasizing that he never authorized anyone to distribute such posters on his behalf.
Remaining steadfast as a loyal party member, Bello expressed his commitment to the leadership of the Abdullahi Ganduje-led National Working Committee (NWC). The former governor called on party members and the public to focus on the unity and stability of the APC amid ongoing political activities.
