Popular Nigerian comedian and filmmaker, Ayo Makun, widely known as AY, has submitted a petition to the Delta State police command regarding grave allegations made against him by a Facebook user identified as Agozi Samuel.
In a 4.32-second video posted on Saturday, January 20, Agozi accused AY of having an extramarital affair with May Edochie, the estranged wife of Nollywood actor Yul Edochie. The Facebook user further claimed that AY was responsible for the marital crisis between Yul and May.
Agozi’s statement in the video included allegations such as, “You slept with May. Because of you, Yul Edochie and his wife separated because you’re having an affair with Yul Edochie’s wife, which is May.”
In response to the public outrage that followed, Agozi deleted the video and issued an apology to AY, citing desperation to generate traffic for rent payment as the reason behind his actions.
However, AY, through his legal representatives, denounced Agozi’s statements as false, baseless, and capable of causing annoyance, insult, enmity, hatred, public outrage, and unnecessary anxiety to his family. The comedian emphasized that the accusations exposed him to unwarranted hatred and public ridicule.
In light of these allegations, AY has requested the Delta State police command to initiate an immediate investigation into the matter and apprehend Agozi. The petition underscores the severity of defamation, cyberstalking, and cyberbullying, with AY seeking legal recourse to address the harm caused by the false accusations.
As the legal process unfolds, AY aims to clear his name and uphold his reputation against what he deems as damaging and unfounded claims made by Agozi Samuel. The case now awaits the police’s response and further investigation into the allegations.
