In preparation for the highly anticipated 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) campaign, Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro has revealed his preferred tactical setup, opting for a 4-4-2 system with an attacking 4-2-3-1 pattern. The Nigeria national team is set to kick off their AFCON journey against Equatorial Guinea at the Stade Olympique Alassane.
Among the notable selections is Stanley Nwabali, the Chippa United shot-stopper, who gets the nod over Francis Uzoho to guard the goal. William Troost-Ekong, the central defender from PAOK, has been named the captain, leading a defensive lineup that includes Semi Ajayi, Zaidu Sanusi, and Ola Aina.
In the midfield, Alhassan Yusuf and Frank Onyeka will play pivotal roles, while Alex Iwobi takes on the role of the playmaker. The attacking trio comprises Victor Osimhen as the lone striker, supported by Moses Simon and Ademola Lookman on the flanks.
Three players are poised to make their continental debut for the Super Eagles in what promises to be a thrilling encounter. The match is scheduled to kick off at 3 pm in Abidjan, setting the stage for Nigeria’s quest for AFCON glory.
