The Nigerian Police Force has issued a stern warning to citizens, cautioning against the use of the trending slogan, “No gree for anybody.” The alert was sounded by the police force’s spokesperson, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, during a press conference held at the Force headquarters in Abuja, where several suspects were paraded.
Adejobi emphasized the potential risks associated with the viral slogan, revealing that intelligence reports indicated its origin from a revolutionary sector. He expressed concerns that the seemingly innocuous phrase could potentially lead to problems and unrest across the nation.
“The new slogan for 2024 for our young ones is ‘No de gree for anybody.’ We have been informed from our intelligence that the slogan is coming from a revolutionary sector that may cause problems across the country. ‘Nor dey gree for anybody’ is being seen as just normal talk, but in the security community, we have seen it as a very dangerous slogan that can trigger a crisis,” ACP Muyiwa Adejobi stated.
The police force’s alert underscores the importance of vigilance and responsible language usage in a time where social media trends can quickly gain momentum and influence public sentiments. Authorities are urging the public to refrain from adopting or promoting the controversial slogan, emphasizing the potential consequences it may have on national security. As the police closely monitor the situation, citizens are encouraged to stay informed and exercise caution regarding the use of such slogans in order to maintain peace and stability in the country.
