President Bola Tinubu has expressed congratulations to actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele for the remarkable success of her film ‘A Tribe Called Judah.’ The movie, co-directed and produced by Akindele, hit cinemas in Nigeria in mid-December, grossing over N1 billion in just three weeks, making it the highest-earning Nigerian movie to date.
In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelali, President Tinubu praised the excellence of the Nigerian creative industry. He acknowledged its crucial role as a medium for artistic expression, a source of substantial soft power, and a viable export.
“The creative industry is one of the high-employment sectors, providing jobs for our able and talented youths. It is an industry that is crucial to my administration. I salute Nigerians for their enduring support and patronage of home-grown creative efforts. We will provide the conducive environment for the industry to thrive further,” stated President Tinubu.
In a related development, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar also extended his congratulations to Funke Akindele for the success of her new movie. Posting on X, Atiku lauded the film for breaking records and standing as a beacon of cultural pride in the flourishing world of Nollywood.
