Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) reportedly conducted a raid on Thursday at the Lagos Head Office of the Dangote Group. The action is said to be part of a search into forex allocations to the company during the tenure of Godwin Emefiele as the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
According to The Cable, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale declined to provide comments on the ongoing operation when contacted for confirmation. However, a Dangote employee verified the presence of EFCC operatives at the company’s head office.
“They asked for documents on forex transactions with the CBN,” the employee stated.
Further details on the raid and the investigation are expected to emerge as the situation develops.
