The Rivers State Elders and Leaders Forum have expressed their stance on the recent meeting involving President Bola Tinubu, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.
The meeting, held at the Presidential Villa, was convened with the aim of resolving the political crisis in Rivers State.
Following the three-hour deliberation, a truce was reached to address the ongoing political unrest in the state. However, the Elders and Leaders Forum have chosen to withhold comments on the matter until Governor Fubara addresses the people of Rivers State regarding the outcomes of the meeting.
Anabs Sara-Igbe, a member of the forum, conveyed this position in Port Harcourt, stating that the forum refrains from making any statements until the governor provides clarification to the public. Sara-Igbe emphasized the need for guidance, asserting, “At the moment, we want the governor to address Rivers people so we can know what transpired in Abuja; only then will we know the line of action to take and what to say.”
The forum’s decision reflects a cautious approach, awaiting official communication from Governor Fubara before making any public declarations concerning the resolutions reached during the high-profile meeting.
