South Africa’s Police Minister, Bheki Cele, provided startling updates on the murder investigation of rapper AKA during an interview with Faith Mangope on Metro FM. AKA was shot dead on February 10 outside a restaurant in Durban.
Cele disclosed that they have located the getaway car and the murder weapon. Two individuals with crucial information about the orchestration of the murder have been identified and are under police protection.
Cele stated, “We know who we are chasing. And those two guys must be kept very safe because they know what happened on that day, and even beyond what happened, [they know] about the networks that led to the unfortunate murder of AKA.” When asked if an “inkabi” (hitman) was responsible for the assassination, Cele mentioned that some individuals involved were hired, while others were close associates.
The rapper’s murder investigation continues, with the police making progress in tracking down those responsible.
