Senate President Godswill Akpabio has addressed concerns about his health following reports of his collapse after a birthday colloquium on Wednesday. Contrary to earlier claims of collapsing during the event and being rushed to the National Hospital, Akpabio clarified that he experienced a bout of malaria and exhaustion.
Speaking to followers and journalists in Abuja on Friday, Akpabio provided reassurance, stating, “After the event, it was a show of humanity, so I went home and called my doctors, and I was told I have malaria mingled with stress, and the stress could be described in another way – exhaustion.”
He further emphasized that experiencing exhaustion is not uncommon, stating, “So anybody could be exhausted. I don’t see any problem. Just to assure Nigerians that the National Assembly is intact. We are still going on with our duty of appropriation. We’ll resume plenary on the 20th.”
Akpabio’s clarification aims to alleviate concerns about his well-being and affirms the continued functioning of the National Assembly despite the reported health incident.
