Enitan Subair, a dedicated 200-level student of Linguistics and African Languages at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, has embarked on a remarkable 50-hour hand wash-a-thon in an ambitious attempt to set a new Guinness World Record.
The young student notified the Guinness World Records (GWR) in June 2023, and her scheduled attempt officially began on Friday, November 24.
Subair’s endeavor has garnered substantial support from the university’s student union, demonstrating solidarity for her extraordinary feat. Ahead of commencing the grueling task, she shared her optimism about emerging triumphant as the record holder for the longest continuous hand-washing hours.
President of the Student Union, Abbas Akinremi-Ojo, affirmed the unwavering support extended to Subair, ensuring that essential logistics such as an ambulance and proper lighting have been meticulously arranged to facilitate a successful challenge.
The school management, led by the Dean of Students Affairs, Professor John Odedire, has unequivocally declared its commitment to providing all necessary resources and assistance. Professor Odedire stated that the institution is fully prepared to go the extra mile to guarantee Subair’s success in clinching the coveted record.
