Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has issued an immediate directive for the swift execution of recommendations proposed by the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reform Committee. The order encompasses all federal government ministries, departments, and agencies.
This directive was given by President Tinubu following the submission of a report on the “quick-win” achievements of the committee by its chairman, Taiwo Oyedele, during a meeting held at the State House in Abuja on Tuesday, October 24.
Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, disclosed to reporters in Abuja that President Tinubu also tasked his Adviser on Policy Coordination, Hadiza Bala Usman, with the responsibility of working closely with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Committee Chairman Oyedele to ensure that the directive is executed efficiently.
Furthermore, it has been confirmed that the President intends to present the recommendations to the Federal Executive Committee (FEC) during their upcoming meeting on Monday.
Ngelale clarified the President’s stance, stating, “After listening to a presentation by the committee chairman, the President directed the Special Adviser to the President on Policy Coordination, Hadiza Bala Usman, to liaise with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and the Chairman of the Tax Policy Review Committee to ensure that the recommendations of the committee are swiftly and immediately implemented across all ministries, departments, and agencies of the federal government to ensure that there is effective synergy and to ensure that every institution of the federal government is on the same page with respect to how tax policy will be implemented.”
