President-elect Bola Ahmad Tinubu has been sworn into office as the 16th President of Nigeria, despite legal challenge to his election from opposition parties.
He was administered with the oath of office by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Olukayode Ariwoola.
The ceremony took place amid extremely tight security and in front of world leaders and dignitaries, such as President Kagame of Rwanda and Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa at the 5,000 capacity Eagle Square venue in the capital Abuja
Tinubu won the 2023 presidential election after defeating the likes of Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Peter Obi of the Labour Party, LP, and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP.
