The minister of state for petroleum, Timipre Sylva has resigned from his appointment to contest for the governorship of Bayelsa state.
In his letter of resignation dated March 14, 2023, which he sent to president Muhammadu Buhari, seen by our reporter, the former minister expressed gratitude to the president for giving him the opportunity to serve as a minister in his cabinet stressing that the experience gathered so far has put him in better stead to serve his state, Bayelsa.
The former minister who has bought the APC’s governorship contest form will be participating in the State governorship primary scheduled to hold on April 14. The governorship election has been slated for November 11, 2023, by INEC.
The former minister, Sylva had earlier served one term as governor of Bayelsa state but now wants to come back to serve the remaining one term as allowed by the constitution.
He was appointed minister of state petroleum on August 21, 2019.
