A former Governor of Imo State and presidential aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Rochas Okorocha has been denied bail by the Federal High Court in Abuja.
It will be recalled that operatives of the anti-graft agency had on Tuesday, arrested Okorocha at his Abuja residence in an operation that lasted for hours.
The anti-graft agency stated that Okorocha was arrested and detained for jumping bail in an alleged N2.9 billion fraud case levelled against him.
Justice Inyang Eden Ekwo in his ruling on Friday declined to compel the commission to release him from their detention.
The lawmaker representing Imo West Senatorial district had filed an ex-parte application in which he predicated his bail request on the ground that he is a presidential aspirant under APC, adding that his political ambition would be jeopardized unless granted bail.
Justice Ekwo while passing his judgement on the bail application said he was not inclined to admit him to bail.
